The Public Protection Department is seeking to hire an Investigator with duties to include informal mediation of consumer complaints, civil investigation of consumer protection law violations, assistance with litigation preparation, responding to inquiries from the public, document handling, data entry, and public speaking on consumer protection issues. The Public Protection Department does not conduct criminal investigations.

Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution of higher learning. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Work experience or education related to social media, advertising or collections is also preferred.

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements to include experience with computers, commonly-used software, case management systems and dealing with the public. A positive attitude, history of punctuality and reliability in previous employment and a commitment to public service are also expected.

The Public Protection Department is seeking to hire an experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Arkansas and should have a minimum of three years of post law school practice experience or the equivalent. The attorney hired for this position will provide legal representation to the State of Arkansas in matters involving utility dockets filed with the Public Service Commission, environmental and consumer protection issues affecting the State. A background in utilities or environmental law is preferred, although not mandatory.
